Black Friday Retreat

at the COS sanctuary in Arlington MA

The Friday after Thanksgiving
Nov 28th 2026

Every year, we gather during the Friday after Thanksgiving for mindfulness, silence, and gratitude.

The main event is 10am-12pm on Friday 11/28/26.

The day after Thanksgiving, re-emphasize the gratitude side of the season. Spend the morning of Black Friday meditating in a sanctuary.

From 10am to 12pm we will experience guided practices such as yoga stretch, bodyscan, and lovingkindness/metta during our two hours of practice. Silence will be welcomed during the practice time.

Bring your lunch if you can stay for the after-practice discussion at noon.

It’s recommended to skip the Black Friday shopping, of course. Yet, if you choose to go shopping either before or after the meditation, that’s up to you.

But if you do have to shop, at least you will have support for being skillful in your interactions with others at the mall. (!)

When gathering together for meditation, it’s useful to have an initial signal
to hone in on.

A meditation practice starts with a bell.
Our studio of practice starts with the radio station.

And then, the process of deepening mindfulness practice is a quieting process that
eventually leads to a healing silence.

Join us in a retreat.
